Who can benefit from veneers?
- People who want to improve their smile so that it makes them feel confident, attractive, and fits their personality and enhances their face.
- People who have imperfections or old restorations in their teeth and desire a balanced, brighter smile.
What are veneers?
Veneers are thin custom fit porcelain restorations permanently bonded to the teeth. With veneers, we can transform imperfections such as gaps, stained, discolored, chipped, misshapen, crowded, worn, uneven teeth into a beautiful smile that will better support your lips and cheeks for a natural fullness. The beauty of a smile that is in harmony with the face is utterly transformative. We work exclusively with a world renowned lab out of New York City to fabricate the most natural and precise restorations. Typically veneers last 10-15 years before needing to be replaced but in lots of cases and with proper care, they can last many, many years beyond that. They are wonderful restorations because as they are porcelain, they will not stain like natural teeth or tooth colored bondings do.
What can I expect when I choose to have veneers placed?
The road to a beautiful smile is paved with a few steps to ensure your new smile is not just esthetic, but healthy as well. It begins with a consultation involving photographs, simple impressions of your teeth and a facial analysis that takes into consideration your face, lips, gums, teeth and overall goals for treatment. We strongly recommend doing a New Smile Simulation if the thought of doing a smile makeover is an idea you’ve been contemplating to see if veneers are right for you. Many times we have a second consultation to answer any questions and finalize our treatment plan.
The process of creating veneers occurs over 2 visits, about 2 weeks apart, and we will use local anesthesia for both visits. The first visit involves reshaping the teeth, taking photographs and impressions for the lab to custom make the restorations. At this time, we will fabricate temporary veneers that you will leave with and these will become the blueprint for the permanent veneers. The temporaries will give you a chance to enjoy and test drive your new smile out in the real world. Recovery time is minimal, only the time it takes for the anesthesia to wear off, which is generally 2-4 hours.
Two weeks later, we will remove the temporaries and try the permanent restorations in. At this time, you will get to view your new smile and only then, after we get your seal of approval, will we will bond the new final veneers.
A night guard is strongly recommended with all veneer cases to ensure protection of your new investments.
