Achieve Your Best Smile with Clear Aligners
With the advent of clear aligners, you can straighten your teeth without having metal braces. Clear aligners can be just as effective, more discreet, and a more comfortable alternative to brackets. Because aligners can be removed to eat, drink, brush, and floss, they are much easier to care for than traditional braces. Have your teeth shifted after having previous orthodontic work? Do you have that one crooked tooth on the bottom that you want to fix? Whatever your lifestyle and whatever your goals, it’s exciting to have clear aligners as an option so you can straighten your teeth, close gaps, or improve your bite without being self conscious.
How Do Clear Aligners Work?
We will thoroughly evaluate your teeth and gums through photos, xrays and a clinical exam to determine if you’re a candidate for clear aligners. Then, together we develop a treatment plan to meet your goals, take impressions of your teeth, and submit them to Invisalign or Clear Correct.
Initially, we won’t know exactly how many aligners we will need to complete your treatment until after we submit your records and create an account with Invisalign or Clear Correct. After we develop a treatment plan that meets our needs clinically and esthetically, we approve it. We love our patients to be a part of the process, because you can actually see a 3D simulation of a before and after of your smile. It’s pretty cool.
Once you receive your custom aligners, you’ll wear each set for 22 hours a day for 2 weeks, then switch to the next set. Every 6-8 weeks, you’ll visit us to ensure the treatment is progressing as planned. That’s it!
How Long Does It Take?
Express cases generally involve 5 sets of aligners to correct very minor crowding or spacing. Each set of aligners are worn for 2 weeks, and then you proceed to the next set for another 2 weeks, and so forth. So if you are an Express candidate, then your treatment will be about 10 weeks. If you have a greater range of crowding or spacing, you will need more aligners for correction. Generally, most cases fall into the range of 6-18 months.
