Enhance Your Smile with Botox in Plantation, FL

There’s more to your smile than just your teeth; there’s also the skin around your mouth, eyes, and forehead. While your muscles work every day to help you smile, speak and make facial expressions, the skin covering them becomes creased, causing wrinkles and fine lines over time. We all want to preserve our youthful smooth skin, and Botox is a wonderful adjunct to help do just that. At LG Dental Studio, we use Botox to help smooth your forehead, your “elevens” between your eyes, and crows feet around your eyes.

Botox injections are an effective way to temporarily smooth out these lines, which will in turn frame your beautiful smile. The treatment is tested and safe, pain free, quick and easy. How long the Botox treatments last varies from person to person, but results generally last between 3-9 months. As a rule, we wait 3 months minimim to repeat treatments per area.

Botox: How Does It Work & What Can I Expect?

Botox is short for botulinum toxin, an FDA approved protein derived from the Clostridium botulinum species of bacterium. When used medicinally and cosmetically, it is not the toxin that is injected, but rather a very fine, fragile protein. It works by binding to the nerve terminals, thereby blocking neurotransmitters that cause muscle contraction. Because these muscles will have reduced contraction, the skin overlying them has a chance to smooth out, giving you a refreshed glow.

Botox does not produce an immediate result, and effects take place over the next 4-10 days after treatment. At the 2 week mark, the results that you see are the results that you will enjoy until you notice them wearing off. It is key to note that Botox is not permanent and does wear off between 3-9 months. That said, as the treatment is maintained, over time the muscles will atrophy and you can enjoy longer intervals between treatments. The effects are cumulative over time, and it truly is a very effective technique for maintaining smooth skin.

Botox is also an effective treatment to slim the jaw line, relieve headaches from TMJ, and relax the muscles that cause clenching and grinding. Please check out “TMJ Therapy” under Services for more information.

The Difference Between Botox and Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers serve a similar purpose to Botox injections but take a different approach. Dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, use hyaluronic acid to plump up areas of the face that show depressions due to wrinkles or scars. Hyaluronic acid is very safe, and it’s already a natural substance found in our body. Dermal fillers are also a wonderful way to fill out your lips, whether you are looking to even out one lip or plump both, and also fill out the lines around your mouth (also known as marionette lines) and lines around your nose (also known as the nasolabial fold).

Dermal fillers, like Botox, are not permanent and similarly wear off over time. Unlike Botox, you notice the changes immediately, which is really fun and exciting.

Depending on your goals, we can discuss what look you’re going for and how to improve your facial proportions to give you confidence you deserve. LG Dental Studio provides injections of both dermal fillers and Botox.
